Core Animation Book At the Printers
So the Core Animation book is finally really at the printers with the iPhone goodness in tact. Should be in boxes and on its way to a bookshelf near you by 10/20. Thanks to the NDA being lifted and the amazing company that is PragProg we were able to switch from printing without the iPhone chapter on Monday to printing with it by Thursday. I can't say enough good about the Prags and how much fun they are to work with as an author.
If you signed up for the beta you can grab your full PDF copy now at the book's site. Thanks again to all the folks that helped out with the book. The tech review team and everyone on Twitter that put up with me bouncing off the walls on Wednesday. Thanks!
I really can't wait to see all the cool stuff that people do with CA, its very very cool technology.
And while you are at the site check out the great Mac titles that the Prags are putting together. My new favorite is from Daniel Steinberg called Cocoa Programming: A Quick-Start Guide for Developers. I expect that to become THE newbie Cocoa book.

Looking forward to the book - checking out the sample code, the tiled layer example code seems to be missing SilverGreen_0.25.png

Congratulations. I know that this delay has been extremely frustrating for everyone involved.
Thankfully, the beta PDF program of the Pragmatic Programmers has meant that many people have read most of this book. I've been disappointed with the slow uptake of Core Animation in applications on the Mac and iPhone. Documentation like this might help turn that around.
Now I need to go finish reading the last couple of chapters.

so when do us people who purchased the hardcopy+pdf bundle get our book in the mail? do our ship out from prag the same time as the vendors copies ship out?

Since this is my first PragProg book I'm not positive how it works but it will be either at the same time or very shortly after that (I'm not sure how the printer ships and where the printed versions go first).
But it will be very soon.
Thanks again!

Hey Bill.
I recently discovered the Pragmatic Programmers website through a forum. I bought the iPhone SDK Book and your screencasts. I gotta say I'm loving them!
I have found a couple of errors and helped report them, hopefully great support from the community will make an amazing book. For a while I have been trying to learn iPhone Development and didn't know where to start, your videos and book are really good resources.
Thanks so much! I am on chapter 3 and I'm loving it, I finally understand soo many things, and an application I have had in my mind for a while is finally starting to seem possible with what im learning.
Cheers.

Hi! I've signed up for the upcoming Cocoa Studio in Denver. I'm really looking forward to it! If I bring my printed copy, will it be weird to ask you to sign it ?
Keep up the good work!

I'd be happy to sign it.
Looking forward to meeting you face to face!

Have the book and lovin' it!
One thing that is not mentioned in the book (or maybe I missed it somewhere) is the problem of printing layered views. I have tried doing this and it is not easy. Could you add a comment somewhere on the web regarding printing and layered views?
Thanks!
