another broken bone

Scooters are the most popular item this summer among the younger crowd. Even Isabel has gotten quite good at high speeds around the corners on the Green. Well, last week a little boy visiting the Green fell and broke his arm. We were all surprised, but this week there was another spill. This time it was Sophia. She fell on Sunday night, but we opted to put ice on it and wait and see how it looked the next day.

The next day it was still questionable, so we waited another day, but this time I wrapped it up in an ace bandage. Today we finally took her to the doctor to get an x-ray and, sure enough, she it was broken.

It is not very serious, and shouldn't take too long to heal, but it was a buckle fracture in her large bone (radius) in her left arm. She is in a soft cast until Thursday to give it a few more days to let the swelling go down, and then she gets her light blue hard cast.

She is doing remarkably well and has only had a couple of pain relievers. She is very excited about getting a cast and having people sign it. Her last cast, for some reason, we didn't get signed. This time, she wants to make sure she has a sharpie with her everywhere she goes to get signatures.

Poor Sophia! She seems to have a good outlook on it though!

Poor Sophia. That's terrible.

I bet she'll have a great time getting her cast signed.

She's right handed, right? So it shouldn't effect her art etc. But still, OUCH!

oh dear! Glad to hear she is handling it well. I have not visited your bloggyland in ages so I have enjoyed catching up-always enjoy your pictures. Have fun with your sister. I know they must be enjoying the cooler weather. It has been so very hot here lately!
