cutting a hole in my house

We have called a contractor to do some work at our house to make the space work better for our family while we are here, and he has not returned our call. So, after talking to my dad last night, he encouraged me to just remove the wall below our stairs myself and get it ready for someone to trim out. He even offered to come to our house and finish the project himself! I have a very long list of projects my dad can help me with, even if this one gets done sooner rather than later.

I cleared out the closet, then took a hammer and other tools to the wall. I removed all the drywall and insulation (why we need soundproofing in the under stairs closet, I don't know) on the inside of the closet wall that is going to be removed. Tomorrow, or probably Thursday, I'll tackle the other half of the drywall and the studs. It's nice right now, because I made a huge mess, but you can't tell because it is behind a closed door. Perfect!

Pictures to follow...

Wow, that's sounds exciting (I think?) Leave it to you to just "go ahead and do it!" If your past DIY projects are any indication, then it will be a total success :) I can't wait to see pictures.

I have a call into a contractor too to replace our front door and he hasn't called back either. What's up with that?
