free stuff

I have been going through our big items in our house and crawl space and selling what I can (via the free ads in our local paper), donating to charity other items, and now I'm utilizing freecycle to give away items to others in our community. I have watched items on freecycle much more often than giving or receiving items, but it is amazing... things are flying out of our house. Today alone, I have given away a baby gate, 4 outdoor chairs and a gas trimmer.

On a funny note, on my way home, I noticed a mountain bike sitting by the side of the road with a sign on it that read, "Free, take me." In small print at the bottom it said, "If you prefer to have permission before taking something, please call..." I was just telling Bill yesterday that it would be nice to have a mountain bike again. I just gave mine away to a neighbor a few months ago because it had a small crack in the frame (which I found out later that he took it to a friend who welded it in less than 30 seconds and fixed it!) I recently bought a bike, but it is a "cruiser" bike, or a "path" bike. It is good for just riding around town, but hills are quite a challenge, as well as pulling the 2 littles in the bike trailer. Wow! What a find. It was almost identical to the mountain bike I used to have, but probably newer! It is a Trek 800 with Shimano components. Not a bad free find. What a blessing!
