hanging lakes hike

Today we took advantage of the fairly good weather and went on a hike that we haven't done in 6 years! I was 5 months pregnant with Isabel when we went last.

We went with a couple of friends and had a great day.

Jacob made it the ENTIRE way up and back without being carried once! That is amazing, because this is not an easy hike. It is about 1.25 miles each way, but it is straight up. His little legs got tired, but he had a great time jumping off of rocks, climbing others, playing in the water, walking across logs with daddy, and running across each bridge.

Isabel made it most of the way, but I relented and carried her less than 1/4 mile. The whole way back, she bounced cheerfully down the mountain.

We are working on all of our hiking legs and we are proud of our littles (and everyone else) for making it to the top and back.

The lake at the top is amazing. The water is so clear and blue. Everyone loves to walk out on the fallen tree. It's quite scary out there, but we got our whole family out there for a family picture.

I had fun taking pictures of the many waterfalls. I even learned a few new functions on my camera.

The "V" rock... the big kids waited there on the way up and back for us slow pokes. :)

On the way home, we stopped for a yummy treat at Marble Slab Creamery. Then, we all showered, ate dinner, watched an episode of Star Trek (now we are working through TNG- The Next Generation) and then Bill and I went to our neighbors hot tub. (We are watching their house all summer and watering plants, so we get an occasional dip in the hot tub as a perk)
