panning for gold
Just outside our Green is this creek, which at this time of year can be quite high and fast flowing. The girls have been asking to go down there, so today they took their gold pans and tried panning for gold.
There were some shiny things in the dirt, and if we tried hard enough, we may be able to get some gold. The water flows directly through the valley of the "Golden Horseshoe", so there actually is some gold in there.
The trick was keeping Jacob safe. He just wanted to explore, so we did a little exploring through the woods and let him throw rocks into the creek.
But we did enjoy some time outside on this beautiful spring day.
