strep

Unfortunately, a couple of the kids have strep throat, which is a first for our family. We took Sophia to the doctor yesterday, confirmed it and got her on antibiotics. In the mean time, Isaac got worse, and it was clear he had it too. Unfortunately, it is not our doctors "policy" to treat other family members with symptoms without a thorough exam, which costs $200 + the strep test.

This has become quite a mission for our family the last couple of days to find another way to get Isaac the antibiotics he needs, without the unnecessary cost. If our entire family ends up getting strep, it will cost us a minimum of $1600 to get $50 worth of antibiotics.

After many phone calls, I found out that the hospital lab takes walk-ins for strep tests and it only costs $17! That is WONDERFUL!

I won't go into the details here, but God orchestrated this in amazing ways after 24 hours of stress and frustation. Now both Isaac and Sophia are on the mend.

Man, Strep is NO fun! I used to get it multiple times a year until I had my tonsils out at 22. What a blessing that you haven't had to deal with it before. I don't know if y'all have walgreens "take care" clinics there, but they have those type of clinics in them like you are talking about at your hospital. Good thing you found that!
