the last week...

Bill just returned from a business trip to NJ. I have been busy with school, testing, taking care of the children and the house.

We got an offer this week on our house, but we turned it down for many reasons. Now we are back to square one. Oh well. I have been keeping up with the market, and watching houses come and go. Thankfully, there are many more houses on the market now than when we first started looking. Now, if we could just get a good contract on this house.

Monday and Tuesday we spent doing our standardized testing as required by the homeschool laws in CO. Fun.

Wednesday we relaxed and had a more normal day of school, and received the offer on the house.

Thursday we drove down to Divide/Cripple Creek area of CO to visit a good friend who vacations in CO each year. We spent the day with them, played, and went to the Florissant Fossil Beds.

Friday, I was exhausted and barely made it through the day cheerfully. Last night we went to dinner at a friends house and Jacob didn't eat very well. He was having too much fun with the playground and the cookies. To make matters worse, just before we were to leave for our friends house, he fell asleep on the floor in the boys room! We have had a busy week, but Jacob rarely (if ever) takes a nap in the house... maybe the carseat, but rarely in the house.

Last night, Jacob was bouncing off the walls and didn't get to sleep until 10:30 pm. Yikes. I knew I'd pay for the cookie dinner, but I didn't imagine how badly I'd pay for it. This morning, after CRASHING at 10:30, he woke up screaming because he had a crick in his neck. Poor boy. He didn't move once his head hit the pillow and was in lots of pain most of the day today. He just laid on the couch and the girls took care of him.

The girls and I went yard-sale-ing the morning and made some good finds. I got a large Longeberger picnic basket in excellent condition for $5. I got a cool metal decoration thing (kind of French country look) for $3, and a couple of pretty doilies for $1. I got Anna a new bike, and the girls a complete Fisher Price doll house with all the furnishings and people. They already had some of the sets, so they were able to combine what they had with what we got. We love yard sales.

When we got home, Bill and Jacob were asleep in our bed. Jacob had been in so much pain, he was screaming for a long time and yawning. Bill finally convinced him to lay down and he fell asleep for about 3 hours. When he awoke, he continued to scream for another long time. He was in so much pain. We got some ibuprofen down him, and finally got him into a position that was at least comfortable enough for him to stop screaming. If I moved, however, he started screaming again. Hours passed, and he finally was feeling better slowly.

It's good to have daddy home.

Now to get ready for the iPhone 2.0 release and the opening of the app store in less than 2 weeks!
